Description
Sage is a perennial herb or sub-shrub and belongs to the Lamiaceae family, native to the eastern Mediterranean region.
It has antihydrotic, antiseptic, antibacterial, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antispasmodic properties.
Sage is also astringent, oestrogenic, carminative, duretic, stimulant, tonic and vasodilator could also helps cure digestive conditions, respiratory problems, menstrual disorders, nervous tension, infertility, depression, heartburn, stomach pain, cholesterol, sore throat, diarrhea, nausea and wounds. It improves healthy skin, blood sugar, brain health, memory and oral health.
Basically, sage is aromatic in odor and bitter-mild in taste. It has a very strong camphor smell when the leaves are rubbed. Surprisingly, the strong smell of sage is not always strong and the taste is quite mild compared to it. The taste of sage really depends on brewing time.
